Only a few years ago, Artificial Intelligence (AI) sounded like something in a movie. Today, it is in everyone's phone, and soon, it will be in every job. The important question for parents today is: Is your child just "using" AI, or do they "understand" it well enough to create with it?
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. It means making computers learn and make decisions by themselves, without a human telling them every single step.
Think of it like this: When you teach a child to remember faces, they might make mistakes at first. But the more they see those faces, the better they get. AI works the exact same way, but it learns from millions of data points instead. Today, AI runs the apps your kids use every day, like YouTube videos, TikTok clips, and Google Translate.
Quick Checklist: What Your Child Needs to Know
✅ Understand what AI is and how it works.
✅ Learn important skills that AI cannot replace.
✅ Know the right starting point for your child’s age.
✅ Build a strong foundation in logic today.
Many parents think that if their child can use ChatGPT, they are ready for the digital future. But it is like driving a car without knowing how the engine works. It is fine for daily driving, but when you need to build or fix something new, you cannot do it.
Children growing up today will be divided into two groups:
1. Those replaced by AI: People who only do simple, repetitive tasks that machines can do.
2. Those who lead AI: People who understand how AI works and know how to command it to do great things.
The big difference between these two groups is a strong foundation in coding.
In coding, it is never too early to start. The secret is choosing the right tools for your child's age:
📌 For Ages 4–5: Children start with Design Thinking (Unplugged Coding). This is a screen-free method that teaches kids how to think step-by-step and solve problems through fun games.
📌 For Ages 6 and up: Kids start learning Block-Based Coding with Scratch. They practice coding logic by snapping blocks together to create their own games and animations, seeing the results instantly.
📌 For Ages 9 and up: Students move to Text-Based Coding using Python or Roblox Game Development. They learn real coding languages, understand data structures, and prepare to step into the world of AI.
Tonnam (Age 14) started learning Python coding with us when he was 12. Two years later, he used his coding skills to build a world-class project. Tonnam created an AI project that checks oxygen levels to help children with heart disease. The system alerts parents immediately if the oxygen drops too low. This amazing project won First Place in a global competition

No matter how smart AI becomes, humans will always be better at these 3 things:
🎨 True Creativity
AI only mixes old data together. Humans can think outside the box to create brand-new things from feelings and imagination.
❤️ Empathy
AI does not have feelings. It cannot understand human emotions or give kindness when someone needs support.
⚖️ Ethical Decision Making
Choosing what we should do, not just what a computer can do, always requires human hearts and morals.
What is the difference between Coding and AI?
Coding is writing instructions for a computer to follow. AI is making a computer learn and make decisions by itself. Learning coding is the necessary first step to help kids understand and build AI in the future.
If my child does not want to be a Programmer, do they still need to learn AI?
Yes, absolutely. In the next 10 years, AI will be in every job. It is like basic money skills—everyone needs to know it. Whether your child wants to be a doctor, artist, lawyer, or business owner, they must know how to work with AI to succeed.
Tonnam started from zero, just like any other kid. He reached the global stage because he built a strong coding foundation early on with teachers who knew how to help him grow.
At CO-DE Academy, we offer premium coding classes for kids from age 4 to university prep. Our courses cover Scratch, Python, and Roblox Game Development, taught by real software engineers and expert teachers who understand kids and make learning fun. We offer Live Online Classes and Onsite Classes at our Campus around Bangkok
🌟We do not focus on memorizing. We teach kids to think, build, and create by themselves.🌟
